How Great is Our God

How Great is our God

Recently, as part of our daily staff prayer time, Bill Welte has challenged the team to come prepared with Scripture that extol Who God is. Not what He, but Who He is. It has been an exciting journey as each morning I go through my mental database thinking of Scriptures I can bring to the group to share. I find that even my preparation time is a time of worship and I begin to be overwhelmed with God. Let me share some of the recent scriptures I selected:

Our God is a Jealous God:Exodus 20:4-5 You shall not make for yourself a carved image-any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God,

Our God is the Ancient of Days:Daniel 7:9-10 I watched till thrones were put in place, And the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, And the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, Its wheels a burning fire; A fiery stream issued And came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, And the books were opened.

Our God is the Great I AM:Exodus 3:14 And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'"

Our God is a Consuming Fire:Deuteronomy 4:24 For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

In my meditation, I recalled a song by Chris Tomlin, "How Great is our God." I love this song. I make a joyful NOISE when I sing. Here is the Chorus: "How great is our God, Sing with me How great is our God, and all will see How great, how great is our God."So, come on friends, sing with me How great is our God. -- Diane Hunt is Director of Addiction Recovery Ministries at America's KESWICK
