Renewed Day by Day

"So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day." 2 Corinthians 4:16

The outer self wasting away - we can identify with that, right? Slowing down with age wasn't noticeable to me until I went rollerblading with a teen daughter. I thought I was skating flat out fast and she skated past me with very little effort. Ugh!! It happens to all of us.

Our inner man is being renewed day by day. How does that happen?

"And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another." 2 Corinthians 3:17 As we behold, gaze upon, the Lord Jesus Christ, we are changed.

"Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:30-31

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Romans 12:2

"But that is not the way you learned Christ!-assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness." Ephesians 4:20-24

"Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator." Colossians 3:10

"But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, but the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior..." Titus 3: 4-6

How are we renewed day by day?

1. As we wait upon the Lord ~ are you sitting at Jesus feet and tarrying with Him each day?

2. As our minds are transformed ~ are you ingesting God's Word?

3. In the spirit of our minds ~ are you thinking God's thoughts after Him and meditating upon Gospel truths?

4. In knowledge after the image of our creator ~ are you seeking hard after God to truly know Him?

5. By the Holy Sprit ~ are you trusting that the Spirit of the Living God resides within you and empowers you today to live to the glory of Jesus Christ?
